Jennifer Aniston called out ex-husband Brad Pitt for some ‘tremendously insensitive’ choices after they divorced.
The 50-year-old Friends star believes that the Hollywood hunk could have made better decisions about his public persona with Angelina Jolie in the wake of their split.
Speaking to Vanity Fair shortly after her marriage with Brad was legally ended in 2005, Jennifer said that some of the photos of Brad and Angelina were ‘gut-wrenching’.
Her main ire was centred around a huge picture spread that Brad and Ange did with W magazine, in which they were portrayed as the perfect couple.
Jennifer said about the 60-page story: “I can’t say it was one of the highlights of my year. Who would deal with that and say, ‘Isn’t that sweet! That looks like fun!’? But s**t happens.
“You joke and say, ‘What doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.’”
Speaking about why Brad would agree to such an ‘in-your-face’ display of his new relationship, Jennifer said: “You want to shake the s**t out of him and say, ‘Your timing sucks!’
“He’s made some choices that have been tremendously insensitive.”
The feature was organised by Brad and he even kept the international rights to it, ensuring that he profited from the pictures being published.
Jennifer grimaced at that thought, saying: “I didn’t know that. Is it odd timing? Yeah. But it’s not my life.
“He makes his choices. He can do whatever. We’re divorced, and you can see why.”
Jennifer believes that Brad isn’t ‘mean-spirited’ and thinks that he was unaware of the hurt that he would cause by doing such a spread.
She continued: “I can also imagine Brad having absolutely no clue why people would be appalled by it.
“Brad is not mean-spirited; he would never intentionally try to rub something in my face.
“In hindsight, I can see him going, ‘Oh, I can see that that was inconsiderate.’ But I know Brad. Brad would say, ‘That’s art!’
“There’s a sensitivity chip that’s missing.”
This was backed up by Jennifer’s co-star in Friends, Courteney Cox.
She said of Aniston’s ex: “I don’t think that Brad is malicious, or a liar. The [magazine] thing was his idea, but I don’t think he thought that one through, about what it would look like to anyone else.”
