News that Kylie Jenner‘s (possibly former) best friend Jordyn Woods fooled around with Khloe Kardashian‘s partner Tristan Thompson shocked fans and haters alike — mostly because few can understand why Jordyn would bite the hand that feeds her.
The 21-year-old model has hugely benefited from relationship with the family, and not just in friendship and fun times: The Kardashian-Jenners have been both a second family to her as well as a major career booster.
But if, as several sources are reporting, Jordyn is now cut off completely, she wouldn’t be the first family friend to turn Keeping Up pariah.
Here, FEMAIL looks back at the other women who were once members of the inner circle — and what happened once the reality stars severed ties.
The end of an era? Jordyn Woods is said to have ‘moved out’ of Kylie Jenner’s home, and been frozen out by many of the Kardashian after allegedly kissing Khloe’s partner Tristan Thompson
The Kardashian-Jenner family worked with makeup artist Joyce Bonelli for over ten years, dating back to their pre-empire days.
Her career grew right along with theirs: She is up to 1.9 million followers on Instagram, has been interviewed by dozens of major fashion and beauty publications, and has had the opportunity to work with several other stars, including Chrissy Teigen, Emily Ratajkowski, and Jessica Simpson.
She has had paid partnerships with several beauty brands, including Marc Jacobs and Sally Hanson.
Her connection to the family impacted both her personal and professional lives simultaneously.
In September of 2018, she married Ben Taverniti, whom she reportedly met at Kim and Kanye’s 2014 wedding. The couple also launched a clothing line called Unravel, which has been worn by celebrities like Ariana Grande.
A long relationship: Makeup artist Joyce Bonelli worked with the Kardashians for a decade
Kardashian-adjacent: She’d been with then since before they were the huge stars they are today, and the connection helped her become quite well-known, too
She was also quite close with all the women, telling The Hollywood Reporter in 2017: ‘We text every other day and we talk about everything. Even if I’m working with a different client we’re always talking and FaceTiming — we talk about kids, we talk about the fun, scandalous stuff.
‘They’re like my sisters.’
But her ‘sisters’ were ready to cut her out altogether last year after reportedly firing her in late 2017.
A source told People at the time it was because Joyce ‘tried to go around them on a deal so the Kardashians wouldn’t make money off of it.’
She also reportedly took credit for coming up with the phrase ‘that s*** cray’ from Kanye’s song with Jay-Z, and ‘the Kardashians were just over her lies.’
Though they fired her at the end of 2017, it took until the summer of 2018 for the news to break, when fans noticed that Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, Kendall, Kylie and Kris all unfollowed Joyce on Instagram.
Paying bills: She has had paid partnerships with several beauty brands, including Marc Jacobs and Sally Hanson
Bye! But all of the women stopped working with her in late 2016, and in 2017, they all unfollowed her on social media
Since they’ve split, Joyce has continued to try to benefit from the old connection, and still posts old pictures of the family on social media as if they are new. She has also spoken out about them, insisting she wasn’t fired while showering them with praise.
Her career hasn’t exactly plummeted since they parted ways, either. She is still attending Hollywood events and doing makeup for stars like Emma Roberts.
However, the feud may have contributed to one major loss of income for her: In 2017, before she stopped working with the family, Joyce announced that she was planning to launch her own cosmetics line to in 2018 called Joyce Bonelli Cosmetique.
The line has, as of now, never been released — although it is not clear whether this is anything to do with her relationship with the Kardashians, or as a result of another issue.
She’s also learned firsthand what it’s like to anger fans of the famous family. When she wished Kylie Jenner a happy birthday on Instagram last summer, Kylie fans attacked her in the comments for being fake.
Meanwhile, the family has several other makeup artists to call upon, including Kim’s go-to, Mario Dedivanovic.

Like Joyce, stylist Monica had worked with the Kardashian family for a long time — nearly a decade — before they all stopped working with her, one right after the other.
During that time, she became a household name among Keeping Up viewers, and now has 1.2 million Instagram followers.
While she styled Kim, Kourtney, Khloe, Kendall, and Kylie, she was also building up her personal fashion brand, scoring collaborations with Lovers + Friends and Sarah Chloe Jewelry.
She was named one of Racked LA’s Five Hottest Celebrity Stylists of 2015, and her name frequently appeared in magazines and on websites as she doled out fashion advice and dished on her famous clients’ style.
As her star grew, she took on more big-name clients, including Gigi Hadid, Kaia Gerber, and Giuliana Ranic.
But then things started to change slowly starting in mid-2015, when Kim stopped working with her. In late 2016, Kylie left Monica for her former assistant, Jill Jacobs. By April of 2017, Kendall, Kourtney, and Khloe had all left her too.
Fashion problems: Monica Rose also served as stylist for most of the girls for close to a decade
Rift: Kim stopped working with her in 2015, Kylie in 2016, and Kendall, Kourtney, and Khloe by 2017 — and rumor has it Khloe considered suing Monica
Famous: She was named one of Racked LA’s Five Hottest Celebrity Stylists of 2015 while working with the family
It was clear it was more than just a professional parting of the ways, too, since all of the women unfollowed Monica on Instagram.
According to Page Six, Khloe was even thinking of suing Monica, though that never came to fruition.
In June of that year, Khloe had fans speculating even more when she tweeted mysteriously about ‘a friend was stealing from’ her, asking her followers, ‘Would you cut off the friendship and let God handle it? Or would you go the legal route?’
Monica’s relationship with the family never recovered, but luckily for her, her styling skills spoke for themselves.
She has continued to work with big clients, including Chrissy Teigen, Chanel Iman, Shay Mitchell (who called Monica her ‘fairy god sister’), and now even Sofia Richie, who seems determined to follow in the Kardashians’ footsteps.
She is still called upon to dole out advice and tips for fashion publications, too, and in November finishing working on her new 1,088-square-foot studio closet.
Growing: She took on other famous clients and scored a few fashion collaborations
Mystery: After a cryptic tweet from Khloe, fans wondered if Monica had stolen from her
Stephanie Shepherd — often called simply Steph Shep — was Kim Kardashian’s personal assistant for four years, starting in 2013.
Things looked pretty good for her while she worked for Kim, and she’d get to accompany the star to A-list parties and events and travel the world with her for work and play.
It’s also not many personal assistants who are able to grow their Instagram followings to 1.3 million, but Steph’s presence on Keeping Up With the Kardashians as well as Kim’s own Instagram account allowed her to grow pretty famous in her own right.
Things were still on a positive track when, in 2017, she was promoted to COO of Kardashian West Brands. But the situation went south that same year.
Though the exact circumstances are hazy, Steph grew close to Kim’s sister Kourtney, and even complained to the older sister that she was ‘unfulfilled’ by her job.
Hand and foot: Stephanie Shepherd was Kim Kardashian’s personal assistant from 2013 to 2017
Buds: Over the years, she grew close with the entire family (pictured at Kendall’s 22nd birthday party)
Luxe life: She went from being an unknown to having more than a million Instagram followers, and she’d accompany Kim to A-list events, hot clubs, and celebrity parties
‘I do think it’s, like, inappropriate for her to talk to you and not to me,’ Kim told Kourtney upon hearing about it on the reality show. ‘I mean, don’t you think that’s just a little bit unprofessional … That’s a convo she should have with me.’
By the end of the year, Steph was out of a job, and the two were rumored to be feuding. According to People, Kim didn’t think Steph was living up to her new role.
‘Kim gave her the chance but after a short period of time it became clear that Stephanie just didn’t have the knowledge to take on a role like that. Kim made an executive decision to part ways,’ a source said.
‘She’s still friendly with the other sisters but she and Kim aren’t really speaking.’
Steph’s career hasn’t fared terribly since she left Kim. She still has a strong social media following, and has been able to use that influence to score invites to Hollywood events, including the SAG Awards this year.
Sittin’ pretty! She truly got a taste of the good life, flying private and wearing designer clothes
On holiday: She’d travel with Kim, including going with her on family vacations
She still takes luxe vacations — she went to Bali for New Year’s — has designer clothing in her wardrobe, and mingles with the stars, though she may not have quite the same access she did years ago.
If anything, Steph is proof that it is possible to bounce back after being bounced by the Kardashians: She has remained good friends with Kourtney, and finally seems to be on speaking terms with Kim again.
‘Kim and the family are dear friends,’ she insisted to People last year.
And in September, Kim wished Steph a happy birthday and wrote on Twitter, ‘Please stop with this fake narrative. She was NEVER my nemesis, We simply stopped working together but we have always remained super close friends.’
Hanging on: Kim fired her in 2017, and the two were reported to not be speaking for a while — though Steph remained close with Kourtney and now talks to Kim again
Doing OK: She may not have quite the access she used to, but she’s still popping up in fancy places and attended the SAG Awards this year
What Jordyn stands to lose…
Jordyn knows all too well that, if crossed, the Kardashian-Jenner clan will cut someone out, which makes it all the more baffling that she’d risk the relationships for a hookup.
‘Jordyn has seen how the Kardashians can cut people out of their lives, and this is a very sad situation right now for everyone,’ a source told Us Weekly.
She’s already moved out of Kylie’s house, which she’d also called home, on February 20. The loss of a luxe Los Angeles mansion has likely hit her hard — and not just because she’s had to move back in with her mom, Elizabeth Woods.
Living with Kylie had other perks besides the multimillion-dollar accommodations: The two shared clothes, Jordyn got to test out makeup from Kylie’s beauty brand, and she also went with her friend-cum-benefactor on family vacations.
The worst yet? Jordyn Woods stands to lose much more considering how close she was with the Kardashian-Jenners
Baby time: She’s had to move out of Kylie’s house, where she has lived for at least a year. She may also lose her relationship with Kylie’s daughter Stormi
Family: She is close with the little girl and has been around a lot for the first year of her life
According to People, Kylie even bought Jordyn a car.
What’s more, Jordyn had the opportunity to get really close to Kylie’s daughter Stormi.
‘Jordyn loves Stormi with all her heart,’ a source told Us Weekly. ‘She spends so much time with her and truly cares about her.’
But it’s not just the immediate perks of being in the Kardashian inner circle — like fancy clothes, luxe trips, and private jets — that Jordyn may see go out the window.
Being connected to the family also seriously boosted the model’s career, which could now flounder without their support.
Much of Jordyn’s early media coverage was as ‘Kylie Jenner’s BFF,’ and it helped her to grow more famous, boost her Instagram following up to 8.6 million, and even book actual modeling gigs.
Everyone’s livid: Being connected to the family also seriously boosted the model’s career, which could now flounder without their support
Exposure: Jordyn has booked plenty of modeling gigs in the past couple of years, but the biggest ones have been for Kardashian-Jenner brands like Kylie Cosmetics
‘People always ask, “What does she do besides be someone’s best friend?” And I do a lot,’ she told MarketWatch in June of 2018.
In the past few years, she’s modeled for Lovesick, Addition Elle, St. Ives, Chromat, and Express.
She’s also partnered up with Boohoo, Barneys, and Eyelure for her own clothing, shoe, and false eyelash collections, respectively. Last year, she launched an activewear line called SECNDNTURE.
And that doesn’t even include the high-profile gigs she’s had with brands owned by the family, which really provided maximum exposure.
Jordyn earned a prime spot modeling for Kanye West’s line, Yeezy, and has appeared in Khloe’s Good American campaigns.
She has also appeared in campaigns for Kylie Cosmetics and has a lip kit named after her.
High-profile: She has even modeled for Khloe’s line, Good American
Big break: Kanye West also cast her in his Season 6 Yeezy campaign
‘She was like a family member and always invited everywhere,’ a source told People. ‘The family helped her and wanted her to be able to have a business venture too.’
‘They have done everything to help Jordyn be successful on her own,’ another source told E! News.
What was she thinking? She stands to lose quite a lot — both in her career and her personal life — since the betrayal
‘They feel she would be nothing without them. It’s such a betrayal for them.’
Being cut off from the family could cause her opportunities to dry up, if brands and consumers decide she is less desirable without the connection.
So far, she’s just getting a taste of what may be to come.
The source told E! News that Jordyn is ‘living her worst nightmare’ and ‘as of yesterday, she has been completely cut off by Kylie and the family.’
Other outlets, though, have reported that only time will tell whether Jordyn will be ostracized permanently.
‘At this point, the Kardashians aren’t 100 percent sure if Jordyn is going to be cut out of Kylie’s life. But they’re all looking at it as if she better be,’ a source told Us Weekly.
